Thank you for your interest in the ASUC Office of the External Affairs Vice President!
The External Affairs Vice President is responsible for fighting for UC Berkeley’s 40,000 students at the local, state, and federal levels. Over the past few years, through lobbying, organizing, and coalition-building, the EAVP’s office has played a pivotal role in registering thousands of students to vote, building more housing in Berkeley, stopping tuition hikes at the UC Board of Regents, winning hundreds of millions of dollars in UC funding from the state government, sending students to lobby in Washington, D.C., and much, much more.
But, as Leslie Knope once said, “No one achieves anything alone” — which is where you come in.
If you’re a politics nerd, a policy wonk, a community organizer, a campaigner, or just fed up with the status quo, this office is for you. All current and incoming UC Berkeley students — regardless of age, ability, income, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, race/ethnicity, religion, and immigration status — are encouraged to apply.
Learn more about the office’s structure and available positions at tinyurl.com/eavpoffice19-20, and view our office’s organizational chart at tinyurl.com/eavporgchart19-20. If you have any questions about the application — or about the office in general — please contact Chiefs-of-Staff Johnny Nguyen and Vassie Rubtsova at email@example.com.
The deadline for continuing UC Berkeley students is Monday, July 8 at 11:59 p.m. The deadline for incoming freshmen and transfer/re-entry students is Monday, July 29 at 11:59 p.m. We will contact you for interviews and next steps after these respective deadlines.
We look forward to reading your application!
