About
China is proud of their involvement with various environmental organizations at Berkeley since their freshman year. They’ve witnessed significant progress in the past three years while recognizing the long road ahead.
Originally from Rhode Island, China developed a passion for zero-waste living. However, a tour of Rhode Island’s landfill revealed the stark reality of recycling contamination. This experience sparked a realization that systemic change is essential to create a sustainable future. Inspired by the Sunrise Movement, China became involved in fighting climate change and advocating for a Green New Deal. They learned about the influence of fossil fuel lobbying and the importance of intersectional environmentalism.
At Berkeley, China has continued to be part of a dedicated community working towards these goals. A position in the ASUC would allow them to further amplify the voice of the climate justice movement.
