Hello, salam, namaste, & sat sri akal!

Thank you for taking the time to apply to the ASUC MEMSSA office! We’re so excited for this upcoming semester and the amazing work we know that our office will do :)

Just a little background about our office – we’re unique within the ASUC because we represent the MEMSSA (Middle Eastern, Muslim, Sikh, South Asian) coalition. Our coalition was born in the face of heightened (racialized) Islamophobia, a phenomenon that pretty much everyone in the office faces, whether Muslim or not. We are the exclusive voice that must advocate for each part of our acronym within student leadership, though other elected officials may also be allies. We are so proud to say that we got voted #1 in all of Berkeley this year, all because of our wonderful community! I, Medina, will be the MEMSSA Senator for the 2024-2025 academic year, continuing the coalition's legacy since 2008.

This year, the committee features eight departments: MEMSSA Community; Student Advocacy and Organizing; Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ); Wellness; Legislation; Marketing; Logistics & Tech; and our new department, Global Awareness.
