Welcome to the Office of Senator Tai Cassel Engen! We believe that Berkeley clubs and organizations have gotten far too selective as far as membership goes, so getting involved in this office is easy and open to everyone. Simply visit the application link and skim over the document of staff roles and descriptions to choose a few positions that are suitable for you. Then, take five minutes to fill out the google form and as long as there are still associate spots open, you are guaranteed a role! If you want to lead a department, fill out the google form for one of the executive roles and expect an email back from us to schedule an interview. We have to be more selective when it comes to leadership roles, but even if we don’t end up choosing you, there will be an opportunity for you to join the office as an associate.
The Phase 1 deadline for executives is September 6th, and the phase 2 deadline for associates is September 13th. Make sure to get those applications in!

Hello! My name is Tai, and I’m a third year double majoring in political science (political theory emphasis) and economics.
I love playing video games and basketball in my free time, and I spent my high school career doing speech and debate. I’ve served in the ASUC for my last two years, and was the Commercial Affairs Co-Executive in the previous Office of the President.
This year, I want to focus my office on student activism. The time is ripe for Berkeley to once again lead the nation as a beacon of progressivism and that means using the ASUC to spearhead the fight for our rights. In order to do this, I want to guide more students towards political involvement and show people how political entities can make an impact on everyone’s daily lives. Whether that means helping the community by doing volunteer work or directly organizing protests ourselves, we will do what it takes to put the ASUC back in the spotlight.
