Jada Yang is a second-year student studying Public Health, Disability Studies, and Public Policy.
Being born with Cerebral Palsy and as an Asian-American woman, her lived experiences have fueled her passion for empowering the voices that aren’t offered a seat at the table and representing the various communities that can be the most vulnerable when not listened to.
As the first disabled community-centered Senator since 2022, Jada is honored to represent the experiences of the over 12% of Berkeley’s student community who report having a disability. She is also a passionate advocate for the Asian American community and advancing equitable access to campus resources and opportunities.
Her office seeks to ensure that historically excluded voices are not only heard but actively centered in campus decision-making spaces. Jada is excited to be part of creating a Berkeley where all students, especially those at the margins, can thrive without having to navigate systems that were not built for them.
