ASUC Assistant Manager
Description

The students hired for these positions will be the Assistant Manager and Senate Team Assistant Manager for the ASUC Administrative Office, the office that is responsible for various administrative, financial, and receptionist duties for the ASUC (Associated Students of the University of California, UC Berkeley’s Student Government). The new hires will be trained at the beginning of the Fall 2020 semester. These students will report to the LEAD Center Coordinator for Student Government and Leadership Programs working with the ASUC Senate, Chief Appointed Officials and the Administrative Office.

Responsibilities

The duties of the ASUC Assistant Manager and Senate Manager are split between receptionist duties and an assigned focus area. (10-15 hours/week)
General Receptionist Responsibilities include:
● Reserving rooms for ASUC-related events and meetings in ASUC Spaces
● Providing customer service for people with inquiries about ASUC (in-person, emails,
phone calls, etc.)
● Checking in and out equipment
● Maintaining and managing ASUC spaces on the 4th and 5th floor of Eshleman
● Managing and delivering mail to ASUC offices
● Other duties as assigned by General Manager or Lead Center Advisor
Focus Areas Include:
● Senate Team Assistant Manager (1)
○ Manage team of 3 Senate or Committee Admin Assistants
○ Assist with Administrative Assistants staff training and development
○ Assist General Manager with their tasks
○ Updating ASUC By-Laws
○ Connecting with Senate/Committee Assistants in order to update the Senate
Resolution Tracker and managing current and past ASUC student
government documents
○ Create, notice, record, publish, and update official agendas, minutes,
resolutions, and other parliamentary documents for the ASUC
○ Work with Senate Assistant Admins to keep updated Directed Action Guide
of resolutions that affect internal ASUC units and external-reaching units

● Assistant Manager (1)
○ Manage team of 3 Admin Assistants

○ Assist with Administrative Assistants staff training and development
○ Assist General Manager with their tasks
○ Process ASUC Administrative Office Purchase requests
○ Manage office supplies; organization
○ Lead After-Hours Access Request processing
○ Work closely with AAVP Grant Office to ensure efficient processing of
purchase requests
○ Oversee management of ASUC student government offices budgets
○ Processing ASUC stipend payments
○ Process and update financial transactions for the Administrative Office’s
budget

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:
Senate Team Assistant Manager
- Organizational & time management skills
- Experience leading a team; student-staff supervision experience preferred
- Quick learner
- ASUC, GA, and/or LEAD Center experience preferred
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Flexibility and ability to respond quickly in a fast-paced work environment
- Proactive attitude
- Attention to detail
- Working knowledge of Excel and Google Drive preferred
Assistant Manager
- Organizational & time management skills
- Experience leading a team; student-staff supervision experience preferred
- Quick learner
- ASUC, GA, and/or LEAD Center experience preferred
- Flexibility and ability to respond quickly in a fast moving environment
- Proactive attitude
- Attention to detail
- Experience with managing a budget
- Working knowledge of Excel and Google Drive preferred
- Customer service job experience preferred

REQUIREMENTS:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Google Drive, and and Adobe Acrobat
- Security Background check
- One year minimum commitment
- Training sessions in the beginning of each semester
- Cannot hold another position in a partisan office of the ASUC
