The AAVP leads student advocacy on issues of academic policy and campus affairs.
James Weichert is a third-year student studying Computer Science and Data Science with a minor in Public Policy. James was previously chief of staff to AAVP Nicole Anyanwu and is excited to continue academic advocacy on behalf of students across campus. His main priorities include securing equitable academic policies and accommodations for the transition back to in-person instruction, reimagining what academics looks like at Berkeley in a post-pandemic world, and securing funding for critical student resources through the campus budget and student fees. Outside of the ASUC, James is the Co-Chair of the Student Fee Referenda Committee and is the Technology Director for the Berkeley Political Review. James is looking forward to a return to Eshleman Hall and spending too many flex dollars on GBC chicken tenders.
