Personal Bio

Greetings, Cal Bears, and welcome to the website of the Office of External Affairs. My name is Joey Freeman, and I am a junior studying Political Science, American Studies and Public Policy. I began my work in the ASUC as a Senate intern my freshman year, served as a Senator my sophomore year, and am now humbled and honored to represent you as your External Affairs Vice President. Outside of the ASUC, I am a brother in the Delta Chi Fraternity and an active member of the campus Jewish community, where I formerly served as External Vice President of the Jewish Student Union. I have worked as a community organizer, a key aide on local and state campaigns and an intern for a Los Angeles City Councilman and United States Senator. All of these experiences have helped me recognize the power of the political process and the unique role each of us can play in affecting positive outcomes for ourselves and future generations. This is a critical moment in the history of public education as state revenue continues to decline and tuition increases. However, these difficulties also present opportunities, and I look forward to working with you to ensure all California residents have the benefit of an affordable and accessible public higher education.

Personal Bio

Hello, fellow Golden Bears! My name is Lucy Liu, and I'm currently a third year studying Political Science and Public Policy. I will be serving as your Chief of Staff for the EAVP this year. I was born in China and have previously lived in other states, but I'm a California girl all the way! At Berkeley, I am a member of Cal Rotoract and Sigma Kappa sorority and a dancer in the Cal Hawai'i Club. I served in the ASUC last year as the Art Program Director in the Office of the President under Noah Stern and absolutely loved it. I am passionate about politics and public service and have interned for the United States Department of Labor and Gavin Newsom's successful campaign for Lieutenant Governor. I've been involved in student government since high school, and it is something I have great faith in. By working together, our elected officials and the students of this campus can do great things. I am very excited for all the possibilities this year holds and can't wait to see what we accomplish. Go Bears!
